2009 MLB All-Star Festivities Lack Excitement

80th MLB All-Star Game I've been to All-Star Week before, and had a blast doing it.  I go into these breaks every year wanting them to be fun and interesting.  The city of St. Louis seemed to do a fantastic job of putting on the show this year, so no knock on them.

But this year's events were so... meh... that I couldn't get excited over them.

Reeshard Kissed A Girl And He Liked It (No, Really)

Gasquet_miami

Richard Gasquet can return to the ATP Tour following the ITF's decision on his anti-doping case.

The Frenchie could have faced a possible two-year ban from professional tennis after he was found with cocaine in his system in Miami. But during his tribunal the former prodigy claimed he received the banned substance through a contaminated drink or kiss from a woman named "Pamela" during visits to a couple of Miami clubs (the last one being a strip club - no surprise there.) He was in town, of course, to participate in the Sony Ericsson Open but withdrew before his scheduled match due to his recurring shoulder injury.

Would You Still Bend It With Beckham?

Beckham A new video showed up on YouTube last week showing behind-the-scenes footage of a new Emporio Armani skivvies ad featuring Posh and Becks ... and Posh's newer, smaller boobies. They're both nearly naked and being placed in various seductive positions, every so often showing their humanness by smiling or laughing naturally. But the thing is, for as hot as these two beautiful people are, have we had enough of them?

There's no denying David Beckham's hotness. He's one of the most famous athletes in the world with one of the sickest six packs (hell, that might even be a 40 oz.) around. But has he, with his multiple tats and ever-changing hairdo, lost his luster?

Review: Johnny Weir's "Pop Star on Ice"

Johnny Weir From the second I heard about "Pop Star on Ice" I wanted to see it! Unfortunately, it wasn't showing anywhere near me. I contemplated flying out to Seattle to see it. I literally logged on to Expedia and almost booked a ticket...but I didn't. Actually, now, I wish I had. Fortunately, a fellow blogger and I'd venture as far as to say friend was able to see "Pop Star on Ice" when it premiered at the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival at the Castro Theatre. Paul, the aforementioned friend and blogger, writes the blog Jumping Clapping Man, where he keeps his blog readers up to date on all things stage production, opera, figure skating, and the Arts in and around San Francisco.

Filthy Sanchez Baffles Padres

Jonathan Sanchez Let me start by saying that the 2009 Padres aren't exactly the '27 Yankees.  They have Adrian Gonzalez (who is slumping right now) and a bunch of yesterday's leftovers in their lineup.  But what transpired at a cool and breezy AT&T Park in San Francisco Friday night was nothing short of remarkable, because of the strange circumstances surrounding the game.

Open Mouth, Insert Soccer Ball Donovan

David_Beckham Landon Donovan has a few words for LA Galaxy teammate and global superstar David Beckham - but he could've told him in person.

Donovan was none too pleased with his famous teammates' performance last season and made sure to let Sports Illustrated reporter Grant Wahl, who was penning a book at the time called "The Beckham Experiment", know about it.

Tour de France In Photos

Fabian Cancellara and Team Saxo Bank With 5 stages of the Tour de France complete we thought we take a quick peek at what's been happening so far.

As of this morning Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland managed to hold onto the leader's yellow jersey, but the seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong is in second place by just a fraction of a second. In third place is Mark Cavendish from Great Britain who is 7 seconds back.

Mannywood Invades PETCO

Manny Ramirez So the circus that was the return of recently-suspended Manny Ramirez turned out to be just what we thought it would.  I took in all three games at PETCO Park this weekend, and it was about 60-40 in favor of the Dodgers.

Manny's return was huge news and drew a ton of crowd reaction.  But I didn't see too many Dodgers fans booing their man.  Padres fans were outnumbered and are typically passive anyway, but they were heard.

A Project in Human Behavior: Welcome Back Manny

Manny Ramirez So tonight is the night we get to find out just what hypocrites we really are.

Manny Ramirez is back after a 50-game suspension for using banned substances, presumably to cover up steroid use.

We will get to observe 45,000 testaments to why player PED use either is or really isn't a big deal to us.  As fans, we've bitched and moaned about how PED use spells the end of baseball as we know it.  It's a crime to humanity.  These players should be tarred and feathered!  Kept from the Hall of Fame!  Forced to play for the Padres!  Oh, wait.
