Spectator sport: Diver Alexandre Despatie

From the gifted to the gorgeous, Spectator sport showcases gay and straight athletes at the top of their game.
Alexandre Despatie (who's straight) has been here before.
During the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the sexy French Canadian diver with smoldering looks won the silver medal in the men's 3m springboard competition, even though he was expected to grab gold or silver in the 10m platform.
The 23-year old is surely hoping this will be a golden summer in Beijing - and we'll be watching.

Despatie was the world champion in the 1 meter and 3 meter springboard in 2005, 2006 & 2007. The 36 time Canadian diving champion is also the only diver to be the world champion in the 1 and 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform at the same time.

I saw this guy on ESPN a month ago and he's an absolutely amazing athlete. You've got to see him dive -- your jaw will drop down to the floor. It's like ballet!

Or Nik, it may be a SPORTS blog and they're featuring someone, as their tag line says "who's at the top of their game". I mean PLEASE, do all the athletes on here have to be gay? I think it's refreshing to have a gay site not focus on the gay aspect of things all the time.
If you actually knew this athlete you would know he is an extremely talented diver who will probably take home at least one medal. Maybe that's why they are featuring him.

I watched him in 2004 and he was such a great diver. The fact that he is such a hot guy and has a great body was just a bonus..Anyone who likes the diving event should really watch him this year.

I do not care if Alexandre Despatie is straight or gay , I enjoyed watching his superb diving skills . yes he is incredibly handsome , and sounds like a great guy . I know gay.com had ulterior motives , but I am glad they put this up . I have never been much into diving , but I may follow it more so after watching him , and some others today.

He's one of our most talented athletes here in Canada, and gay or straight, he's almost near perfection on the diving board on most days:) We expect good things from him this Olympics! Go Alexander go:)
