I'm actually sad that Dara Torres, famously 41 years old, didn't take gold in what is probably the last individual 50M freestyle of her career. Is there a gold medal for athletes who should get one because I said so? Nope. The clock showed Dara Torres hit the wall 1/100 of a second later than Britta Steffen of Germany, to win silver.
And so it goes.
Another 'older' lady, Linda Ellerbee, used to say that on The Overnight News. Remember that? If not, no medals for you! Just because I said so.
