In probably the most competitive and watched of any of the women events in this Olympics, a gymnastics battle between China and USA proved to be more entertaining than one would of thought.
The two teams pulled away from the pack and provided Beijing with a very entertaining competition between two good gymnastic programs.
Team China proved to be up for the challenge and won the battle capturing their first ever gold Olympic medal ever in women's gymnastics. Their victory looked like a foresee conclusion after the first day of events with their spectacular opening performances but on Tuesday night some mistakes came close to costing them the gold.
Team USA was coming into the Olympic games as a team that no one thought no one could come close to in competing for the gold medal but they will settle with the silver medal even though the gold was right at their finger tips.
Team stars Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin all had stepped out of bounds deductions on their floor routines that sealed the team fate. Alicia Sacramone not only stepped out of bounds but she even fell to the floor on her backside that eventually turned out to be too much for Team USA to overcome.
