After losing a tough battle to the Chinese women gymnastic team, two members of team U.S.A bounced back to claim victory in individual competition.

A day after an embarrassing showing in a tight battle with the Chinese women Olympic gymnastic team, U.S members Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson proved that they were over the loss to claim gold and silver respectively.

Nastia Liukin performed as good as she could have possibly dreamed of and brought home the gold and her closest competitor in the competition has been long by her side this entire time in Shawn Johnson.

Liukin sealed the deal with a brilliant performance on the bars with a score of 16.650.  Shawn Johnson is the reigning world champion.

"I know I had so many doubters over the last few years with my injuries and people thinking that I was older than the other girls, but I proved everyone wrong when I came out here, and I feel stronger than ever," the 18-year old said after the U.S. team won the silver on Wednesday.

Now she is standing tall in front of the world with the gold to take home with her to Texas.
