What do you think is the best Olympic victory?

After the incredible come from behind win for Team USA in 4 x 100-meter relay Sunday evening, we began to wonder what the best Olympic moment was and did this replace it?
Tell us what Olympic victory stands out the most in your mind!
Who cares!!! One person wins, another one loses. What's the fun in that? If I want to see bitches fighting each other for a prize, I'll stick with Big Brothers on CBS. Now, on the other hand, if the question were what country had the hottest team (in certain sports, etc...) I'll pick the French 4x100 freestyle relay team. That Alain Bernard is soo fuckable hehe

At the top of my list would be Greg Louganis coming back from hitting his head on the diving board to win gold in 1988.
Right up there has to be USA hockey. I remember watching the US hockey team defeat Russia and that will always stick in my memory.
Then there is Derek Redmond of England who popped a hamstring in his semi-final and insisted on making it to the finish line. He didn't win but I still view it as a victory.

Many of the younger folk may not remember this but I sure do. Bob Beamon was a long jumper and after stepping over and disqualifying on his previous 2 jumps just made a remarkable jump. I remember thinking is he going to land. I think the record stuck for at least 2 decades if not more.

That would have to be Keri Strug on vault in 1996 to clinch the gold for the US women.

That's easy... the Miracle on Ice when the smaller, amateur hockey players from America pulled the upset of all times. Not expected to even make it passed the first round, the Americans took the gold in our home country and the chant, USA, "USA, USA...became known

Mary Lou Retton winning the Women's All Around Gold in 84. The first female American gymnast to do so, and coming just weeks after a potentially career ending knee injury and reparative surgery.

John Carlos and Tommie Smith with their black power protest on the awards podium in 1968 in Mexico City. I have long fantasized of a similar gay protest.

Slightly off topic: The various photos of Michael Phelps at the conclusion of the 4 x 100 relay, such as that shown, provide graphic illustration of the "Ugly American." Success breeds arrogance, and arrogance is offensive.

Winning gold means that you are better than anyone else in the entire world at that time in that event. Dreaming of that possibility is by nature arrogant. Wanting to be at the top of your field could be construed the same way, arrogance. How boring the world would be if we all strove for mediocrity.
As for my self, I was jumping off of my couch screaming in joy. Good for them....good for Phelps.......Good for his family..... good for America!!!!!!
