Adam Jones Reinstated by NFL Commissioner Goodell

Roger_goodell_81073311 Way to make me look like an idiot, Mr. Goodell.  Not one week ago I wrote a post lauding you and the NFL for finally getting tough on ne'er do wells, malcontents and thugs, and used your example of Pacman Jones's suspension as a case in point.

And now, you have reinstated him.

Brilliant.  I haven't read the press release as to why.  I don't see the need to bother.  I am sure that you are going to say that his latest transgression was alcohol related, and, I am sure it was.  And I am sure that you are going to say that since he is "sick", and that he's been through all of four weeks of rehab, he deserves a forty-third chance to make good.

However, I can't help but remember that the conditions under which you let him back into the League to begin with were that he adhere STRICTLY to the terms of the conditions of his agreement with the courts, under which he was to stay away completely from alcohol, substance abuse problem or not.  There was no exemption or exception for rehab.

Total bullshit.  Give the Cowboys, one of the League's biggest revenue generators, anything that they want, right?

I retract my post of last week.

Can Adam Jones really put his past behind him when the likes of the media (including yourself) keep referring to him as "Pacman" rather that "Adam?" It's a bit difficult to leave the past behind when you have tried to change your public persona and the people that deliver latest news won't pubically refer to you with your legal name and acknowledge what could be a big step towards change. I would think that he would be able to coexist a bit better as "Adam" than "Pacman." Agreed??? I am not defending his actions; however, the connotations attached to a name could be a big influence on the people that are attracted to a person and the public's point of view.
