Fantasy Football: Running Backs
Ahh. The running back. Cornerstone of your team, leaders of champions. Did you pick the right guys? If you did, you'll be in the playoffs. Get a couple of duds, and you're screwed. Top 5 so far this season, in order: (rankings based on total yards + touchdowns - turnovers)
Clinton Portis - Redskins
Adrian Peterson - Vikings
Thomas Jones - Jets
Matt Forte - Bears
Brandon Jacobs - Giants
What do these names tell us? That preseason prognostications are purely bullshit. Only Adrian Peterson and Clinton Portis were in my top-ten running back picks. Currently, LaDainian Tomlinson is 12th! And that's just ranked with other running backs! If you rank him with all the players, he's a dismal 28th behind Kyle Orton and Roddy White. Roddy White???? Exactly.
Well, thanks for making us look stupid, LT. But on a lighter note, the guy who picked him in our league is in 9th place. Ha Ha.
So, you're wondering who you should grab for a playoff run? I guess Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis is a bust. Sorry about that. There are two guys worth looking at this week. Ladell Betts will probably start for injured Redskin Clinton Portis, and although Betts is a bit war-weary too, if he gets the nod, you're looking at some pretty ok numbers. Antonio Pittman is a go in St Louis, and even though they have no offense, at least he's a starter this week. But lets face it. If you have to go with one of these guys, you're hurting for that playoff spot, aren't you?
I like Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis. It sounds like an Israeli town in the middle of Wales. Planet-Unity through football, baby!
Very pan-worldly, like old Lloyd Free, aka Lloyd "All World" Free, aka Lloyd "All World B." Free, then finally, and legally, World B. Free.
I just like it!
And, by the way, if World B. Free could have played these days with a 3-point line, DAMN! that would have been something to see!
