Mark Cuban Thinks Gay NBA Star Would Be A "Hero"
What if Kobe Bryant or LeBron James shocked the world and said they were gay? Would they be vilified or would they be heros?
Dallas Maverick's billionaire owner Mark Cuban thinks it's the latter.
When asked in a recent interview about openly gay former basketball star John Amaechi, Cuban went on record in an outstanding show of support for gay athletes.
"You would be an absolute hero to more Americans than you can ever possibly be as an athlete, and that'll put money in your pocket," Cuban said.
"On the flip side, if you're the idiot who condemns somebody because they're gay, then you're going to be ostracized, you're going to be picketed and you're going to ruin whatever marketing endorsements you have."

I'm really glad to see not only that Mark Cuban made these statements but that he gave a great context for them. It's very true that a pro-gay athlete is going to find it a lot easier to get endorsements than a crazy homophobe. Just compare the net worth of Charles Barkley and Jeremy Shockey and I think that his point becomes abundantly clear.
