NFL: Brady Quinn Gets His Time in the Spotlight

Brady_quinn_2 After their heartbreaking loss to the Ravens on Sunday, the Cleveland Browns' brass has decided to give golden boy Brady Quinn his shot at running their underachieving offense. According to reports by ESPN, the announcement Monday came merely a few hours after head coach Romeo Crennel said QB Derek Anderson would remain his guy.

Quinn, out of Notre Dame, was to be the quarterback of the future for the team when they drafted him 22nd in the 2007 draft. But Anderson became the surprise of last season, meaning Quinn would languish on the bench longer than expected. In his brief stint as an NFL QB, Quinn completed three passes for 45 yards.

Quinn's elevation to starter comes in a week when the Browns have only four days to prepare for their next opponent. The team hosts the Denver Broncos in the first Thursday night match-up of the year, to be broadcast on the NFL network. The big question: will Quinn's presence behind center actually have any impact on the passing game, since the Browns' receiving corps has been dropping passes and messing up routes all season.
