Sports Pulse: Hockey
If you're reading this, chances are you're a sports fan. But with the
wide world of sports expanding all the time (and hot athletes to keep
track of), we want to know which sport makes your jock itch.
Everyday for the next two weeks, we'll be running a different poll asking you to gauge your level of interest: are you an ice skating fanatic or is soccer more your cup of tea? Be a sport and let us know.

I am from Canada and I hate hockey. I fail to understand how people can enjoy the cold....
Besides the guys are usually covered up on the ice.
Much prefer tennis or summer sports....

So many players...whew! But really, Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks and just about any of the Finnish players in the NHL are worth a look or two.
Hockey players just seem to have "it" for me...

I am a STH with a USHL hockey team. I love ice hockey in all forms (from watching midgets/peewees up to NHL). My goal for 2009 is to start playing hockey myself and am chatting with a few people starting a gay hockey team here.

Hockey's awesome. Fast paced, gritty, full of action. One of the few good things about winter. Fo Sho!

It ain't the cold we're enjoying! D'uh!!

Being a transplant to Minnesota from San Francisco I realized I was going to have to love hockey to make it through the winter months. I started going to college hockey games at the U of MN, and now I am a college hockey addict. I only follow the NHL after the NCAA's. Being African-American I am usually the only black face in the crowd, but I love college hockey! GO GOPHERS!!

You've heard the old story about the sports fan who went to his usual "Saturday night at the fights." Things were going well until a Hockey Game broke out.

Hey Robert Murphy. Haven't you seen the UMN wrestlers!!!!! They are the hottest guys in the Big10 Conference!!! Well, next is university of Iowa wrestlers. Why the hell do you waste your time on the hockey team for!!! They cover themselves from top to bottom. You can't make out anything!!! Ice Hockey sucks!! If you wanna get hot, check out college wrestling (big10 has to hottest guys)

I LOVE hockey and have since 8th grade. I think the men are totally HOT and I've had the luck of meeting many in person and getting my picture taken with some. I have autographs of some (Brett Hull for one), played bumper pool with Bernie Federko and spoke french with Phillipe Bozon. They are my sports idols. I wanted to be a hockey ref, but never made it. I use my imagination when they're in full dress, and wonder just what it's like to be them. I have had season tickets to my local NHL team, and have seen games from LA to NY. AND...I have touched the Stanley cup and have my picture with it !! It doesn't get much better. Just remember...HE SHOOTS>>>>HE SCORES !!!!

I'm a sometime hockey fan. I love the speed of the game, and (I admit it) the fights! I recently learned about G-Force, which is a national gay hockey team (you can find them at www.gforcehockey.com), and am now a proud donor to the team.

I'm from Canada. I've been playing hockey for over 40 years. I recently joined the Toronto Gay Hockey Association. The game is in my blood.

About 15 years ago I got to be stick boy for the San Jose Sharks during their inaugural season at the Tanq. I had dinner with the general manager, did pregame with the coach, set the bench with the equipment manager, and learned drills from the players. Watched the game from the bench and had autographs from the team.
The Sharks turned a kid who knew nothing about the game and had no interest into their biggest fan. I'm an unofficial ambassador to the sport my new sleepy town I live in Northern California and host viewing parties for weekend games, opening night, All-Star, and playoff events.
Meeting many of the fans in person and working with them professionally they're grade A classy atheletes. They care about their fans and take time to help the community.
The sport's fast paced, graceful, requires skill, finesse, and has a physical edge. Anyone who says hockey isn't the toughest sport to play has never laced up a pair of skates and sprinted up the ice, beat two defenders, and manged to score top shelf on a goalie.
I've played street hockey many times as a kid and coached some ice teams. It's a sport worth watching and if you live in San Jose, St. Paul or any of the Canadian cities, the energy you get from the fans is amazing live.
Plus most hockey players are hot.
Good luck Thorton, Marleau, Nabby, and the rest of the crew on your Cup run!

I have been a hockey fan since the time I was a little kid, long before I truly discovered my sexuality. My friends and I would get on our roller blades and play street hockey nearly every day of the week. We lived near Detroit, so our street was busy and that scene from "Wayne's World" cracks me up because we, too, would have to yell "car!" and clear the street before restarting again. As I got older I embraced my homosexuality, but my love of hockey never faded, even though I don't really play and I was more into artsy stuff as a teenager and college student (I am a music teacher, after all). It is an intense game that can change in an instant. Sure, I love the game, but we all know the added benefits of seeing Valtteri Filppula, Patrick Marleau, and the hot young guy from Boston College who just made his NHL debut named Nathan Gerbe. All of these men are supremely gorgeous. I have met Valterri and he is a genuinely awesome person. If you love a game, you don't just watch, you live it, meet the players, know the history of the game. I still live in Detroit, aka. Hockey Town! and I go to as many games a year as I can. Let's Go Red Wings! Back to back Cups!

It's just a sport people...

I haven't been that much of a fan of hockey, but I will watch it. A lot of times, I'm just way to busy to veg out and watch a good game (like the usual battles between Montreal and Toronto, Olympic, Worlds, or the Stanley Cup finals). It's a part of many Canadians growing up as kids (from road hockey to playing in an ice rink).
That being said, I don't mind a pick-up game on the street. Just be mindful of the cars ;)
