It's NBA Playoffs Time: Does Anyone Care?
In the 70s, 80s and 90s, I was a major – and I mean MAJOR – NBA fan. Couldn’t get enough of the stuff!
Starting with Dr. J and Artis Gilmore, I loved the pro game. And, as a kid, then as a young man, I played b-ball all day, every day. Like everyone else, I would try and imitate the moves of my favorite players – something that was not easy when your favorite players are 6’5 and 7’0, and you are 5’11 and 140 pounds. Still, you should have seen me on my two-handed gorilla. Tore down a backboard once – true story.
The 80s turned to the 90s, I got older, lost my jumps, but still loved the NBA. Why wouldn’t I? I live in Chicago, and the Bulls had Michael Jordan. What wasn’t to love about that, especially when you had season tickets, as I did.
But Michael retired, and I noticed something when he left. I noticed the NBA is probably the most boring, most ridiculous, least-team oriented/strategic pro sport out there. I noticed, after Michael left, that the NBA was, basically, un-watchable.
So I stopped watching.
Which brings me back to the title of this post. It’s now NBA playoff time. Does anyone care?
how many times are you gonna complain about the NBA? you posted the same thing at the start of the season. we get it, you don't like the nba anymore. your feelings haven't changed since the beginning of the season. other people may care still care about the nba...you don't have to rub your disdain for it in our face with another bash-the-nba post.
