Fun New 'Sport.' Where Else? On a Volcano.
Volcano boarding?
Some people will try anything. Over at the NYTimes travel section, Laura
Siciliano-Rosen has written a great article on a really interesting “sport” for
people looking to die in a new and exciting way. Volcano boarding.
See that speck in the picture...riiiight in the lower left? That's her. Just kidding. This is a picture of a much scarier volcano in Indonesia. You want to go elsewhere, somewhere that the locals don't mind you offending the 'fire gods.'
Instead, you need to head to sunny Nicaragua! Here’s the gist: Go to western Nicaragua and take a walking tour up an active volcano. Then sled down it.
It’s like sandboarding with a chance of lava. The best of both worlds! This activity seems like an experience you can use to trump other braggarts at a bar – "Well, I bet you’ve never sledded down an active volcano!" – rather than a ‘sport.’ It’s perfectly placed in the Travel section. So if you’re ever in western Nicaragua looking for something to do, might as well stock up on bragging rights. Wheeee!
Just added my own blog this month. I need some inspiration. Thx.
