The Minnesota Twins showed some major power this past weekend when beating the shit out the NL Central’s leading upstart Milwaukee Brewers.
Coming off a 20-1 performance at the White Sox, the Twins steamrolled the hapless Brewers 11-3, 6-2, and 6-3. That’s 23 runs in a weekend, or 43 runs in 4 games. That’s a damn fine stretch, and a nightmare on opposing pitching.
Joe Mauer, Twin catcher, was the AL player of the week last week. But with his numbers, that’s no surprise. He hit .458 with 12 runs and 13 RBIs, while hitting 4 homers during the 7 game stretch. Oh, and he had to beat out two of his on-fire teammates to win the award. Both Michael Cuddyer and Justin Morneau both had super weeks.
Was it horrible Brewer pitching, dominant Twin hitting or the damn Metrodome? I think yes to all. We’ll see come June 23 when the Twins come to Miller Park.
Other teams blown away last weekend during interleague play include the Blue Jays who were swept by the Braves, and the Astros, swept by the Rangers in the Lone Star Series.
Are you as interested in interleague as I am? After the first series, the American League is ahead by 2 games, 22 to 20. More stats to come.
I just read this very interesting article from the BBC detailing a practice in Rome so common that instances don’t even make the papers. Italian football hooligans are stabbing opposing fans in the ass!
Never to be shut up...figure skating's bad boy, Johnny Weir, hits the big screen this weekend at the Seattle International Film Festival with a witty documentary chronicling his attempt to ascend to the top of the figure skating pyramid.
Popcorn please!
