Former Nebraska Wrestlers Talk. Watch And Vote!
In an interview on ESPN's "Outside the Lines", Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan got a chance to talk about their dismissal from the University of Nebraska wrestling team for posing naked on a gay website. Without going into too much detail, we learn about their previous incidents with the law, other teammates who may have done worse things than posing naked and a coaching staff possibly covering up further infractions.
Watch the video then take our poll and let us know what you think about the whole thing.
the more interviews i see, the less sympathetic i am with these two young men

I can hardly wait for the day when people can do something like this without ANY repercussions...so what, they posed nude..it was their choice, nobody got hurt..what the heck is the big deal?

Paul and Kenny did absolutely the RIGHT thing in their Fratman.tv. appearances----and more power to each of them.
We love you both!

I agree with them; they jacked off for a porn web site. Big deal.

Maybe if this country had free college education like a handful of other countries you wouldn't hear stories about turning to porn to make extra money for books and tuition...just a thought.

I can't believe almost half of the voters say this wouldn't happen if it was a straight porn site. So many gay people just have to find some way to make it look like the gays are being treated unfairly again.

The assistant coach and the student wrestler. Sounds like the makings of a porno.
Both are cocky kids and deserving of a does of reality. The coaches too are part of the problem.
I wish I could check "all of the above" in the poll section at the end of the article.

These two young men seem like downright nasty, vile, underhanded exploiters.
GROSS.
Posted by: Save Our Community | June 15, 2009 at 08:53 PM
I have to agree with some of the other comments. These two young men knew the rules and should not have broken them. However, from what I have seen and heard, I'm not sure they were treated fairly. The problem with most schools, jobs, gov't. is the lack of treating everyone the same. Their thinking is "if you embarrass us, then you are going to get it." If they can't cover it up and it gets out, THEN they do what they are legally supposed to do.

Sports has this silly standard that you have an obligation to be a role-model.
Fuck that, you should be able to pursue your sport without your private life being compromised.
Posted by: sirald66 | June 15, 2009 at 09:25 PM
Here's the thing:
I can understand the school's point of view because the two wrestlers uphold the image of not only themselves, but the school, the wrestling program, etc. So when it comes to discipline, yes, something should have been ensued.
BUT.
Do i think that measures should have been taken to that extreme? Hell no. So they did some porn. Big fucking deal! Being offered to do porn is, in my opinion, a compliment. I'm pretty sure there's other guys at that school who would do the same thing, and i'm sure there's some who have.
i can understand maybe suspending them from matches...reasonable. Dismissing them from the team when it could've been much worse? seems a little over dramatic. They lost some players. Those guys are still wrestling...so, really they got paid two grand to pose nude and masturbate, which caused them to be kicked off their schools wrestling team, only to then wrestle for someone else...what did they lose again?
Posted by: Adam | June 15, 2009 at 09:42 PM
The arguments have been made.
Let's state the obvious:
- These kids aren't very bright.
- A Traditionalist Christian college like Nebraska isn't going to smile upon nude photography, gay or straight.
- Nebraska College is a private institution with it's own values separate and distinct from others expectations.
- Nebraska DID NOT dismiss them from the college. The wrestling team removed them for the season.
My conclusion is that any half wit would know better than to risk their professional career over what they could win on a bus trip poker game (as they claim).
Hopefully they learn the lesson of "If you don't play by the rules, you will be dismissed."
Aka don't risk negatively affecting an institution's profit margin.
They will have to learn to navigate through territories which are friendly to their whimsical decisions instead of antagonistic.

they did nothing wrong. they used pseudonyms so as to NOT profit off their wresting image. the very fact that this is an issue is incredible
Posted by: Matt | June 15, 2009 at 09:55 PM
These guys were just naive, 'young, dumb and full of cum'; they wanted to make quick money. So what? The good side about these straight dudes is that they weren't ashamed of their bodies and not afraid to pose for a gay men audience. They posed and j/o. So what? Thousands of other teens/young adults do the same and cam on gay.com, xtube and msn. They just didn't think that the pics/vids would get around, but there are a lot of people watching porn these days and everything turns up on the internet. So word got out. Nebraska's image? Give me a break. I'm sure other wrestlers have done worse and weren't "punished".

If it had been for a straight porn magazine they would have been heralded.
Posted by: David | June 15, 2009 at 10:26 PM
Why isn't there this answer option:
They didn't do anything wrong.
Posted by: Jeremy | June 15, 2009 at 11:41 PM
i think the whole thing is a waste of time. how many times have we seen on the news or on tv about people who do porn for money to get through college? how many times do we hear about people working in strip clubs to make money for school? the only difference between this and those stories is that these are guys. if they were girls then there would be no story to tell. america is socialized to want women to use themselves sexual for what they want. they should want to be sexual for others to enjoy. but if a guy does it then something is wrong. i dont' care if they posted on a gay site or not. just because they are men is why this is an issue and i find that rediculous. spend time on real issues that actually mean something.

Actions have consequences. It's not a right to play for a team. It's a privilege. If you break the rules, it'll break you. That's the bottom line. I mean, what's so hard about that?
I also DO NOT understand why this is a gay issue? Is there insinuation that there was homophobia involved in the dismissal of the boys?
There is backlash to porn. "We took some naked pictures... deal with it." It's been dealt with.
Posted by: steve | June 16, 2009 at 12:15 AM
Who's policing off camera behaviour? If it's on camera, it's bad.
These guys aren't skinny - what are you talking about? Muscle dysmorphia?
It probably wouldn't happen if it was straignt porn because in wrestling there's the image of hetersexual masculinity to uphold, dumbass.
If scum poses for porn then the millions of people out there who watch are also scum. You of of them? Bet you are.
I don't think people hold up amateur wrestlers as role models.
These guys ARE bright and rules are meant to be broken!
Posted by: Vince | June 16, 2009 at 12:15 AM
I haven't seen the shots, but since when has nudity been considered porn unless the models were underage? Does that make a lot of fine art (Michel Angelo's 'DAVID') is porn? Porn (Good, bad, or whatever) I thought involved a sexual act. Let's get real. This is a personal value and should not effect the boys in any way. This country comes across as being very prudish. There are two types of bodies--male and female. If someone has a body people want to look at, so what? If they can make a little money being photographed--all the better for them!!!
Posted by: Rob | June 16, 2009 at 12:19 AM
I have to say that Yes if it had been a straight porn web site then they probly would have gotten a pat on the back. But since it was a website frequented by gay men. The problem is that these two boys posed on a gay website. The other men in the locker room will now wonder if they are being checked out. Putting a gay man in the mens locker room is like putting a straight man in the womens locker room. I'm not saying what they did was bad. What I am saying is that I believe that the school acted too harsh and was pressured into what they did. Now both sides need to re-evaluate what kind of message that we want to send the world. Do we want to send the message that posing nude for a GAY magazine is so bad. I remember when quite a few women have posed for Playboy or Penthouse and it sent there ratings to the top. The news stands could not get the magazines in fast enough. So in conclusion ask yourself this question: Was the two wrestlers dismissed because they posed nude or was it because they posed nude for a gay mens website. We need to drop the "good ole boy routine" and make this a better world of tolerance and acceptance. Only then will we have a world of peace. I hope I did not offend anyone, It was not my intention, but this is how I feel as a person.

Spoiled brats, especially DanaHOE. Rules are rules .... consequences for the actions. It looks like this was not the only "action" that they were involved in. Keep breaking the rules and eventually you get no more chances. Just like Jordan says "deal with it to the school!" So to you 2 boys, I say "Deal with it!".
Posted by: rossclt | June 16, 2009 at 12:42 AM
The point is, that the broke the rules. Porn is porn, and even though I like porn, some institutions have policies against it. The coaches have a right to decide who is on their team just like an owner of a business should be able to decide who runs his cash register at the front of the store. Who do you want representing you?
That being said, the other guys that did all their crap should have been punished also. It still seems fishy that the guy "forgot" about what he told during the first interview. "i must have been on drugs" what a fake and a liar. These kids are TROUBLE>
Posted by: callman | June 16, 2009 at 01:38 AM
I'm a good friend of pauls and yes im gay, i wrestle for a D1 college, this is all crap. They arent troubled kids, or bad kids at that. Some of you may think they make bad decisions but then again who doesnt? I'm sure they have their reasons for doing porn, but thats not for us to judge.
i think its great all the support that he's gotten from the gay community, but i agree that this issue needs to be put to rest.
Posted by: college wrestler | June 16, 2009 at 02:08 AM
I see it this way.... This may sound bad, but let's look at the bigger picture. Paul Donahoe is your basic big dicked (It's true. Look it up) dumbass jock. He may be straight, big deal. He may be good at what he does. But like many young cocky college kids, he has a big dick and he knows it, so he goes and does this stint on the internet. He's not really that intelligent. He's rather annoying at the end of the interview. Is he sorry he did it? Yeah because of what happened in Nebraska. NOW?! This guy is eating it all up. This guy has either been practicing for gay porn or is going to do straight porn. IMO? This guy is playing on sympathies. Unfortunately.... I can't feel THAT sorry for this guy. Nebraska's college has rules. It's too bad they didn't decide to enforce it before this. I feel more sorry, but not totally for Kenny Jordan who got the worse end of the deal. Let's look at it this way. At the end of the interview, Paul is all forgotten. The motherfucker has a deal with someone. Hell the porn industry for all I know. He's comfortable in front of the camera and what not? He'll be the next "BIG" thing for gay porn probably.
Do I feel sorry for them? NO! NOT NOW! Just slightly for Kenny, but he seems to be angry alot.
Did Nebraska do the right thing? Sure! But unfortunately it took THAT to do it. The did FAR WORSE before it where there should have been a change of staff if anyone looked hard enough. Pfffft. Good image my ass. Nebraska now looks like a shitty place for school. Not because of the porn, but because of the shady shit before it that has been uncovered.

I never heard about this other then Gay.com.
It probably wouldn't be that interesting if it wasn't about Gay Porn.
They are young & will probably read contracts thoroughly from here on out.
The Blond DER one, probably didn't even think that it could possibly go out to Gay Publications.
Maybe if they didn't use their own school's uniform, it would be a different story.
Besides, they went on to better universities $2000 richer.
It is as simple as that.
We Gays need to quit making such a big controversy about everything.

I can't say I think that if it was a straight porn site the problem would have been covered up.. or they wouldn't have been kicked off the team. But I do think the fact that the site is frequented by gay men has something to do with it, but that's not what got the kicked off. They did break an NCAA rule, although dumb, they still broke a rule. Also I will agree with the players that there is definitely much worse things happening in college sports than these two posing nude for money. Athletes break laws all the time and somehow there is nothing wrong with it... they may get a slap on the wrist here and there, but for the most part they aren't kicked off the team. However a kid trying to make money is apparently much worse than breaking laws and putting other people's lives at risk.... Overall the situation sucks either way you look at it. Two kids risked their education for a few thousand dollars, and then in retaliation for them being kicked off the team, they lash out on the school and coaches... only making the situation worse.
Posted by: Nick | June 16, 2009 at 04:33 AM
The ones who come off as the real scumbags are the university officials, ESPECIALLY the coaching staff. It's pretty obvious to me that Donahoe's "amnesia" in the second interview is the result of direct or indirect threats that he received; just look at his reactions to the interviewer's questions: he's running scared. Even if you don't know anything about body language, that much is apparent.
This whole affair just underlines the ridiculous adulation that Americans heap on their sports "heroes", often underprivileged kids who get obscene salaries for satisfying legions of couch potatoes' Walter Mitty-like fantasies. Sports is a wonderful thing but the monetary awards that are associated with pro sports have become disproportionate, and the expectations that people have of amateur athletic champions (Michael Phelps, et. al.) have become absurd.
Behind all of this there's a heap of hypocricy, of course. If you're a semi-pro or a pro athlete, you can splash your mug all over any number of products, the real benefits of which are often dubious. But drop your pants and show off your junk, and Bam! You're off the team. You're disgraced.
By the way, I wonder what a graphologist would think of that coach's handwriting sample. To me it looks twisted.
Posted by: Matt | June 16, 2009 at 05:41 AM
For those who carp on and on about how these boys somehow tarnished Nebraska's "image", I humbly submit the following reminder: Playboy Magazine runs an annual issue featuring "College Girls", in which models don and eventually doff items of clothing that prominently display the initials and symbols of a myriad of colleges and universities. The models in question may or may not be actually associated with these or any other institutions of higher education. Also, they may or may not be appearing under their own names. How many voices have been raised to protest THIS "image problem"?
Yeah, that's what I thought.

STRAIGHT PEOPLE HATE US AND IT SHOWS. They are all taught to Hate us and kill us and beat the fuck out of us and it really shows on how The American people value life and freedom. If its not oil or it doesn't put money in their pockets this is how they value human life. I'm starting to see why the entire world hates the American people. Honestly if there was a place with loving people and its a beautiful place to live without hate disease gives people a chance to live period and everyone is actually treated equally and free I would go. Back when the terrorists attacked us Americans said "If you hate America so much leave" I would but everyone here hates gay people where would we go Alaska. Lets say we left the US would attack us and take over for OIL or some natural resource that only makes them rich. This future is bleek for humans
Posted by: Ha! | June 16, 2009 at 06:20 AM
Lets say we do have first contact with another intelligent race from another planet. I hope and pray they don't think like humans do on this planet because if they did, that would mean they used up their own resources and are looking for a new place to live and are looking to exterminate whatever life there is there. That would be our fate. I think we're lucky that we don't meet a new society a different race they would consider us as savages and hate us too. I don't think a God would allow this kind of hatred. It forces me to really believe there is no god if he taught his so called people to hate us this is how a growing country (PLANET) behaves. This is no life. If it is then Heaven would be Hell.
Posted by: Ha! | June 16, 2009 at 06:31 AM
The problem with this whole situation is that every time one of the players or coaches did something wrong, it was swept under the rug. It has nothing to do with gay vs. straight, but with that 20th century macho bulls**t image. And that they felt untouchable. The college should be cleaning out the whole wrestling department. But that would mean no trophies in the trophy case.
Posted by: Bert | June 16, 2009 at 06:46 AM
It sounds like Nebraska gave these guys more than one chance. And they finally blew it. I really dont think it had anything to do with gay vs. straight. And i firmly believe this is all just a revenge tactic by these two. Guys you messed up, take responsibility and move on please!
Posted by: JazzRN | June 16, 2009 at 07:15 AM
Had they not done all of the stuff in the past and gotten in trouble with the law so many times before, then this would be outrageous. But given the details of their past, it seems like this was more the last straw than anything.
Do I think they would've been able to stay on if it were a straight porn site, probably.
There also seems like there is enough to investigate the whole team and the coaches in-depth as well.
Posted by: will | June 16, 2009 at 07:19 AM
Lets just say you have no money and you can't take out another student loan For every dollar you make the government will take away your assistance so for every dollar you make they take two away so now you're starving you can't afford to go anywhere you're parents don't respect you and treat you like shit and/or are maxed out at loaning you money to help you while you're in school and that job program at the school is a useless waste of time. Someone with a wad of cash comes along and says show me your junk and I'll give you $2000. Thats enough for two months of expenses and some fun. Now if this was straight porn No Straight guy would be saying a word. They would be asking questions so they can do the same thing and the whole thing would be a College campus secret that even the professors coaches and deans would never say anything about. This is GAY. Straight people HATE Gay people. The only acception is some frat kid hooking up with dykes which is a straight sex dream come true. But this was just masterbation. No sexual contact with another human. Just a webcam. College kids are doing this 24/7 for FREE. These kids got paid and a couple of jealous queens are pissed because they're not getting any. Life sucks for them Ha!!!! Since this was a gay web site they're screwed. Now they have no future No lessons to be learned and No After School Special for the kids to watch. These kids depended on this one thing to give them a future so they can work and have a future for themselves. They took is all away because they think these guys are gay. I saw the big picture instantly when I saw this whole matter. Straight people are teaching HATE and using gay people for the example. Well kids let me use your life for an example for the rest of the world. No future for you kid cause you are now a public faggot. No one is really looking at the fact here. What does this boil down to? If this was a Cheerleader working at a straight strip club in Vegus it would be totally OK. This dumb bitch gets to have her Medical degree or Law degree. Thats Pussy. There's a difference between Pussy and Gay dick. There would be no issue for the dumb bitch. She's raking in $3000 a night in tips. STRAIGHT PEOPLE HATE GAY PEOPLE AND IT SHOWS!!!!
Posted by: Ha! | June 16, 2009 at 07:37 AM
after watching this interview, I think Donahoe is a bi closet case, the other guy was just a dumb straight guy, and the fact that he's willing to recant their improprieties means that something sexual and probably illegal was going on
Posted by: jackknifexx | June 16, 2009 at 08:01 AM
These bastards were looking for any reason to get rid of these kids. The fact that this was gay made the coach look gay. Wow his macho image has turned into a gay sympathizer. His feelings are hurt cause he can't secretly look at them naked. This whole thing is bullshit. The are all lying sacks of shit. Closet cases are assholes this is the bullshit we have to deal with everyday.
Posted by: Ha! | June 16, 2009 at 08:25 AM
There is an obvious double standard. I have seen coaches cover up worse things. Yes if it wouldn't have gotten out in public I do believe the coach would have covered this up to. I firmly believe it was the public backlash he, the college and the NCAA feared more than what they had actually done. Arrests for fighting and drinking, selling ipods, come on! Find me a college team anywhere in the US that this shit is not going on. These NCAA rules are being broke all the time. The double standard lies there, and it is apparent, the coach didn't move for immediate dismissal when he found out, he waited, that CLEARLY shows he would have covered it if he could have. Sorry coach you loose. Was their behavior acceptable, hell no, but apply it to EVERY damn student and not just ones who pose on gay websites. For saying that Donahoe was part of the family, I would not want to come out as gay in that family. Once you bring someone in, you don't just let them go, you stick it out through the hard times, that is where true character is. Anyone can stick it out through the good times. The gambling is another story all on its own too.
Really these players need to set themselves to a higher standard. They need to all take more personal responsibility. Athletes are taught from an early age that as long as they perform good in their sport, they can get away acting any way they want, this needs to change, but you can't single out certain athletes, you have to apply the same standards to all athletes. And this is not obviously happening.
Their lack of concern about how serious what they did was, is unbelievable, however, so is how the university reacted. Like both athletes said, much worse has gone down with not as severe of consequences. Both these guys as well as the college are obviously in the wrong. No one in this story is without blame.
Posted by: zach | June 16, 2009 at 08:38 AM
OK, after watching the ESPN "full story" I have changed my mind about these most beautiful guys. Donahoe and Jordan should have been fired because of their consistently disruptive behaviors which are clearly described in this ESPN piece. Their efforts to shift blame to others should be rejected. (Period)
It appears that the coaches and the school allowed them (and others on the team) to get away with too much because they wanted to win. All involved have a serious ethics and social responsibility problem. Maybe a good ethics class would help school administrators.
Before seeing the ESPN story I thought these "kids" were being punished because of a youthful indiscretion. I was squarely on their side. But, as I became more informed of the facts in this case it became clear that these "kids" like to play by their own rules and have no sense of accountability.
Paul kept referring to himself constantly as a "kid", while using his bright twinkling eyes and that beautiful broad smile and those innocent facial gestures to charm and disarm others.
Paul is a young man who is beautiful, near perfect, and he clearly understands this is his strength and he uses it to gain advantage without remorse.
Rules matter and when applied fairly level the playing field making the game more competitive.
These young men have everything it takes to "win" at the game of life but are missing an important character trait that they desperately need to be taught, personal responsibility and concern for others. Hopefully, as they mature they will become more self aware and make a very positive contribution to society.
Posted by: Tim | June 16, 2009 at 08:42 AM
Perhaps they wouldnt have been dismissed if it was a straight website, but that does not excuse the fact that they broke NCAA rules numerous times. If this was a one time event then they have every right to be angry. Multiple arrests, legal problems, and Donahoe even admitted that he must have been on drugs. Getting thrown off the wrestling team will not cost them money, and they deserved it, as does probably other members and coaches of the team. Hopefully this will make them grow up just a little bit.

Each of us have freedom to express and to do anything what we want in order to satisfy our selves. Freedom is one of the greatest gift that God given to us so we have to use this in a right way. Right Way means that no one would be hurt, stepped down, destroy, humiliate, shame and others.
There's no big deal to do anything that can please yourself because that's your choice that's your heart wanted to do BUT! always remember that not all your choice could satisfy yourselves in the end always think first or examine yourself if this things could help you being a good and decent person. If you agree in this just keep it to yourself and and reflect if your choice is the best.

It saddens me how much gay people play the vicitim role, blaming all of society for every percieved slight against them, be it real or not. I really don't feel these boys were dealt with as they were because of anything gay. They broke many rules in their tenure, and were given many chances. Many schools, organizations, and employers have morals clauses in their contracts and agreements. They broke that moral clause. The fact that they did it for a gay site is of no importance. Many women over the decades have been punished for their transgressions also, including students and other professionals. I remember recently a woman in New York who was fired from the police department for posing for Playboy magazine, and of course lets not forget the most famous incident of a certain 1st black Miss America who had her crown taken away in the 80's for nude photos that were published of her. Like it or not, we still live in a puritanical society where the general public frowns on nudity. So lets grow up men and stop the blame game by saying this happened just because it's gay related. And also remember, before you judge these kids too harshly, that they are in fact just that, KIDS! Kids make stupid mistakes. WE ALL DO! We all have done stupid things we know we shouldn't. So for those of you that are perfect, go ahead, rip these kids apart. For the rest of us, we'll continue to look objectively at situations, and not pass judgement on others. (Something I know is next to impossible for most gay men) I hope they have learned from their mistakes, and go forward in life being better men for it.

Anybody under the age of 30 who thinks that he can do *anything* on the Internet that won't eventually be found out is naive at best. The guys both had a history of misbehavior, and this was just one more facet of their thinking that they could do whatever they wanted and get away with it.
They have to understand that there are consequences for every action, and sometimes those consequences are not pleasant. Better to learn that now before they are out in the real world contributing to the next political scandal or financial crisis.
