It's Official: Defending Champ Nadal Out of Wimbledon

Like I said, when coach and uncle Toni Nadal speaks about Rafa people should listen.

The world's top baller announced his withdrawal from next week's Wimbledon due to tendinitis in both quadricep tendons and some fluid on his kneecaps.

After losing both exhibition matches at Hurlingham Club in London this week, the defending champ met with the press to break the news:

I’m here and I'm just not 100%. I'm better than what I was a couple of weeks ago but I don’t feel right.

To not play Wimbledon is one of the toughest decisions of my career.

He had been playing for a few months with pain but realzied he may have reached his limit:

I played with some problems on the knee for the last few months. I've been making efforts to play week after week. The truth is that sportsmen always play with pain and don't know where the limit is, where you can get to. I think I reached that limit now.

I will work very hard to comeback as soon as possible. One of the problems is I’m thinking more about the knees than what is happening on court and it’s very difficult to play like that.

The 23-year old Spaniard was unsure how long the recovery would take nor when he would make his return to the ATP Tour.

One word about announcement: FUCK. All the hopes of another classic meetup between Rafa and Roger Federer, who will be going for a record-breaking 15th major, have been dashed. Plus, a Grand Slam always feels strange when the defending champ and/or World No.1 are absent.

Happy recovery Rafa!
