Open Mouth, Insert Soccer Ball Donovan

David_Beckham Landon Donovan has a few words for LA Galaxy teammate and global superstar David Beckham - but he could've told him in person.

Donovan was none too pleased with his famous teammates' performance last season and made sure to let Sports Illustrated reporter Grant Wahl, who was penning a book at the time called "The Beckham Experiment", know about it.

In the book the U.S. national team star is quoted as saying:

Does the fact that he earns that much more money come into it? Yeah. If someone's paying you more than anybody in the league, more than double anybody in the league, the least we expect is that you show up to every game, whether you are suspended or not.

He's not shown [he's a good teammate]. I can't think of another guy where I'd say he wasn't a good teammate, he didn't give everything through all this, he didn't still care. But with [Beckham], I'd say no, he wasn't committed.

Oops.

Although he isn't backing down from his words Donovan wishes he had spoken to Beckham first before going public with his words. He told the L.A. Times,

I'm not going to apologize for the way I felt. What I feel badly about is that I should have been a man and told David how I felt as opposed to telling a reporter.

Like, duh. That's Media 101 for Athletes Donovan. Stick a ball in it next time...and let us watch.
