Safin Sounding Ready to Call it Quits
Marat Safin sounds like he's ready to call it a career earlier than expected.
The Russian hothead was knocked out of the Swedish Open opening round 6-3, 7-6 (8) by Spaniard Nicolas Almagro. "I'm tired of the tour, tired of staying at hotels and tired of traveling...I've had enough now," the 2-time Grand Slammer told the press after this latest loss.
Marat was planning to officially retire towards the end of the year most likely after the Paris Masters on November 8 but a second round loss at Roland Garros, first round loss at Wimbledon, and now this one surely has made him rethink this plan.
But I wouldn't be surprised if he just ended it now. Sad, but true.
