The towering Russian opened the event by playing a rematch of the 2000 US Open final against a sleeveless-wearing Pete Sampras and winning again. Then, he defeated newly-crowned Indianapolis champ Robby Ginepri in the opening round followed by a doubles win with compatriot Igor Kunitsyn. Phew.

All I have to say is thank God! I have grown so tired of the question "Is Brett Farve going to come back?" Now its official, he has decided to stayed retired. The Vikings and the whole sports world can move on.

Another day, another big sports star caught up in scandal. This week, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of a sexual assault in a civil case. This follows his reckless motorcycle joy ride in 2006.
Roethlisberger joins a long list of star athletes who have been accused of running astray of the law. What makes star athletes think they are above the law? Is Kobe Bryant a role model? Does Michael Vick represent the type of young man we want the current generation to aspire to? Does Big Ben stand as tall today as he did after his last Super Bowl win? These are only a few of the bad boy athletes who have gained headlines for their indiscretions over the past couple of years.
