Charger fans have heard this before, only this time they're cheering.
The man who threw 36 interceptions in 25 career games was detained at the U.S.-Canada border Wednesday. The former #2 pick in the NFL (behind Peyton Manning) had a warrant out for his arrest, stemming from drug and burglary charges. He had been given a Thursday deadline by the Texas DA to turn himself in, or the bounty hunters would be sent to British Columbia looking for him.

Hold on to your jockstraps boys, the word is out. Not only is there no "I" in "Team" but apparently there is no "Gay" either. Kenneth Hutcherson, senior pastor of the Antioch Bible Church and a former NFL linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys (1974) and the San Diego Chargers (1975) wrote an editorial for WashingtonPost.com giving his reasons why gays and the NFL shouldn't mix. Just so you don't miss anything I've copied the entire editorial below.

This is bigger news than the casual fan may realize.
As reported by Sports Illustrated's Peter King, the NFL and Comcast Cable are closing in on ending a five-year impasse over the availability of the league's NFL Network on Comcast. The NFL has been asking for what many people have long-considered to be outrageous per-customer fees while insisting that the channel be available to Comcast digital cable subscribers. Comcast, not wanting to pay exorbitant fees, would not take the channel off their extra pay tier. In short, if the agreement goes through, according to King, roughly 15 million more customers will have free access to the NFL Network. A similar situation remains unresolved with Time Warner.

Football has been a swamp of misery in the Bay Area for the better part of seven years now. Neither Oakland or San Francisco has made the playoffs since 2002 But the 49ers at least have some optimism building now, with the hire of Mike Singletary, a rapidly-improving defense, and a 4-1 finish to last year. Nobody seems to think the Raiders are anywhere close to contention, and Saturday's draft exemplified why.
When you own the 7th pick in the draft, you're supposed to pick the best available player, regardless of need. You can be excused for choosing a need player over the best player, if the need player is almost as good. The Raiders chose Darrius Heyward-Bey, a wide receiver out of Maryland. Not only was he not the best available player left, he wasn't even the best receiver left!

Will the Lions new logo create success? Doubt it. After the first 0-16 performance (if you can call it that) in NFL history, the Detroit Lions are hoping their new ‘fierce’ logo will change the tide. Well, that and the first pick in the draft this Saturday.

After 42 years in football John Madden is hanging it up. BAM there he goes right out of the booth clutching the telestrater, the BOOM, executes a button hook, grabs that last paycheck and he is out the door. It would have looked better with a mass of blue lines everywhere maybe, but you get the idea. For some of us this will be the first time in our lives football season will be without John Madden.

Well, conventional wisdom stated, point blank, that the Washington "Deadskins" would, yet again, “win” this season’s NFL off season. For those of you not into off-season junk, “winning" means you're the team that makes the highest number of off-season gains in trades and acquisitions in an effort to improve your team. As I've stated above, everyone was sure it would be D.C. yet again, because D.C. throws around money around like it’s, well, Washington D.C.
But, no! This season’s off-season winner is -- TA-DA! -- the Chicago Bears!

Well, the baby is gonna get his wish. Denver Broncos’s owner Pat Bowlen has announced that the team is actively trying to trade Jay Cutler.
Ah, great move! Well played, Jay! I mean, who wants to build a career as a quarterback playing half your games in mile-high thin air (where the ball travels forever) for a team that has a long-term historical – and successful – commitment to throwing the ball, for a team with excellent receivers, for a fan base that supports you.

As we prepare for the end of basketball season and the start of baseball season, the NFL remains busy: busy changing its rules. Two rule changes -- one affecting the protection of the quarterback and one affecting downfield blocking -- have our two debaters on opposite sidelines.

A gay cowboy? So what. A gay Dallas Cowboy?? Whoa Nelly!
Barrett Long, a straight adult film star, was a guest on Howard Stern this morning and admitted accepting cash for oral sex when business was slow. He also revealed a Dallas Cowboy was one of his "clients":
