Fabienne Achille: Miami Heat Dancer Turned Doctor

Fabienne Achille Former Miami Heat dancer Fabienne Achille may not have platinum records, number one singles, or a spot on the highest rated show on television like other former NBA dancers but what she has accomplished is much more unexpected and impressive, in my opinion. Instead of falling into every imaginable stereotype that follows team dancers (lacking intelligence, promiscuous, shallow, etc.), Achille is nearing the end of her residency at a hospital in south Florida and plans to become an obstetrician.Yes, you read that right: NBA dancer turned doctor.

A Girl Can Tri

Ali Vincent Some sporting events are just intimidating. Marathons, for example, seem to have that effect on people. Likewise, triathlons, despite their shorter distances, can be intimidating because of the three events involved. If that’s how you feel, you might consider getting a team together and starting out with a relay triathlon, like Ali Vincent from The Biggest Loser.

Chase That Cheese!

Cheese_Rolling_87961596 I know it’s been over a week, but I can’t get the event that was the chasing of the cheese out of my head. For centuries, crazy Britons (and many others) have been hurling their very breakable bodies (is that Borat on the right?) down a 200m hill in Gloucestershire after a freaking wheel of cheese.

New York Mets You've heard the jokes before.  You may have made them yourself, even.

"What's it like in the locker room?"

"Are all the guys running around naked?"

"Do guys shower together?"

Denise Richards' Second Career Better Not Be Singing

Somebody better tell Denise Richards not to quit her day job. Oh wait, she's bad at acting too.

Famous Bra Among Sports Items Potentially up for Auction

Brandi Chastain It's never too early to start holiday shopping, and the bankruptcy courts in New York want to help you.

The Sports Museum of America, a for-profit organization in New York, recently declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  Among its items that have been taken into custody by the courts, according to the Wall Street Journal, are a Tony Hawk skateboard, a Mike Eruzione jersey from the Team USA 1980 hockey team, and - get this - the black sports bra Brandi Chastain exposed when she scored the game-winning goal in the 1999 Womens World Cup.

Nike and Naked Running: Time to Start a National Movement!

I have been running for about 20 years.  I generally don't like to run; it hurts my joints badly and it is boring as hell.  So, I am always seeking new ways to make running more interesting.

FOUND IT!

Homoeroticism in Sports. No, Really?

Fernando Verdasco Rafael Nadal I came across a nice op-ed piece in the University of Arizona’s student newspaper, the Wildcat, about homoeroticism in sports.  The author, Alexandria Kassman, makes the point, maybe not so strongly, but nevertheless makes the point, that sports are rife with homoerotic aspects.
